Cloak of Ethereal Shadows
Wondrous Item (Cloak), rare (requires attunement)
This shimmering cloak appears to be woven from ethereal threads, constantly shifting in hue yet remaining predominantly shades of deep blue and gray. When worn, the enchantment seems to thin the very air around the user, allowing for seamless movement between the material plane and the shadows of another realm.
While wearing this cloak, you gain the following benefits:
-
Ethereal Step: You can use a bonus action to step into the shadows, becoming ethereal until the start of your next turn. While ethereal, you can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. You take 1d10 force damage if you end your turn inside an object. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses after a long rest.
-
Shadow Veil: As a reaction when you are hit by an attack, you can draw upon the cloak's power to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. If the attack misses, you can immediately teleport up to 15 feet to an unoccupied space you can see.
-
Duskwalker: You have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made in dim light or darkness. Additionally, you can see normally in areas of magical darkness up to a range of 60 feet.
-
Whispers of the Void: Once per long rest, you can call upon the cloak to cast the shadow of moil spell without using a spell slot or material components.
The cloak is imbued with the echoes of long-forgotten secrets, and while attuned, you may sometimes catch muffled whispers at the edge of your consciousness, guiding your steps or hinting at hidden truths. However, be wary—lingering too long in the depths of shadows may draw the attention of unseen entities, eager to claim those who delve too deep into the void.
