Wristlet of Ethereal Echoes
Wondrous Item (Wristlet), rare (requires attunement)
This delicate wristlet is crafted from a silken material that seems to shimmer with colors beyond the visible spectrum, constantly shifting and flowing as though caught in a gentle breeze. Embedded within its fabric are tiny, translucent gemstones that echo sound in an unusual way, creating a soft, otherworldly resonance when touched.
While wearing this wristlet, you gain the ability to momentarily phase between corporeal and ethereal forms. As a bonus action, you can initiate an ethereal shift, allowing you to become incorporeal for up to 1 minute. During this time, you gain the following benefits:
- You can move through objects and creatures as if they were difficult terrain. You take no damage from being inside an object, but if you end your turn inside one, you must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 2d10 force damage as you are expelled into the nearest unoccupied space.
- You gain resistance to non-magical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
- You can use your action to create an echo of your voice that can come from a point you can see within 60 feet. The echoes can only convey simple messages (like "Help!" or "Come here!") but last for 1 minute, providing a type of rudimentary communication or distraction.
Once you use this ability, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
Additionally, when you are struck by an attack while the ethereal shift is active, the attacker must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the attacker is momentarily confused, disadvantage on their next attack roll as they struggle to comprehend your elusive form.
This wristlet is a perfect tool for those who seek out stealthy approaches, cunning distractions, or simply a way to navigate the dangers of battle with a poetic grace.
