Whispers of the Shadowed Grove

Wondrous Item (Amulet), rare (requires attunement)

This intricately crafted amulet is shaped like a gnarled tree branch wrapped around a silver crescent moon. Ethereal whispers seem to emanate from it, speaking in a language that is just out of reach of comprehension. When attuned, the wearer becomes acutely aware of the presence of life around them, allowing them to sense creatures within a 30-foot radius, even if they are hidden or invisible.

Once per long rest, the wearer can activate the amulet to summon shadowy vines that spring forth from the ground in a 20-foot radius centered on themselves. These vines can entangle up to three creatures of the wearer’s choice within that area, requiring a successful Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + wearer’s Wisdom modifier) to escape. While entangled, creatures have disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws and attacks against them are made with advantage until the start of their next turn.

In addition, while wearing the amulet, the user gains advantage on Stealth checks made in natural environments, as the whispers guide them in moving silently through the foliage. The wearer can also cast the spell Pass without Trace once per long rest without using a spell slot.

However, the whispers are not just a boon. Once attuned, the wearer becomes attuned not only to the natural world but to the darker forces within it. At the end of each long rest, the wearer must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 12), or they will be haunted by fleeting visions until their next long rest. These visions impose disadvantage on all Intelligence and Charisma checks made until the effects fade.
