Wand of Whispers and Echoes

Wondrous Item (Wand), rare (requires attunement)

Crafted from the limb of a long-forgotten tree that stood in the heart of a secretive forest, this alluring wand has a surface that seems to eternally ripple with faint echoes of sound. Its hue shifts subtly from deep emerald to shadowy indigo, captivating the eager eye. Adorning its tip are tiny, inlaid crystals that shimmer with a ghostly light.

While holding this wand, you can use an action to cast one of the following spells: Silent Image, Minor Illusion, or Message. You can use each of these spells once per long rest without expending a spell slot. Additionally, when you successfully use Minor Illusion, you can allow it to take on an auditory component, creating a sound that mimics any noise you can imagine, offering a tactical advantage in your encounters.

Once per long rest, you can channel the echoes of the wand to unleash a wave of sound. As an action, you can create an area of supernatural silence in a 20-foot radius sphere centered on yourself. This effect lasts for 10 minutes, during which time magical effects relying on sound, including verbal components of spells, cannot be cast. Creatures within the area must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC 15) or be unable to cast spells or use abilities that rely on verbal components for the duration.

However, the wand’s ability to manipulate sound comes at a price. When using the explosive sound wave ability, you hear whispers of past users, causing you to roll a d6 on a table of side effects. On a roll of 1, you become dazed until the end of your next turn, hearing phantom echoes that confuse your thoughts.

The Wand of Whispers and Echoes is not merely a tool of power; it is also a reminder of the unseen bonds in the weave of reality, where words can inspire courage or instill dread. Use it wisely, for every sound you conjure holds the potential to change the tides of fate.
