While you hold the wand, you gain the following benefits:

  1. Shadewalker’s Insight: Once per short rest, you can use the wand to cast Detect Thoughts without expending a spell slot. This allows you to probe deeper into the thoughts of a creature, revealing basic emotions and intentions. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be unaware that their thoughts are being read.

  2. Veil of Shadows: When you cast Invisibility using this wand, the spell lasts an additional 5 minutes. However, you must use a spell slot of the same level or higher and the wand absorbs a fragment of your essence. After casting, make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw; on a failure, you must subtract 1 from your hit point maximum until you finish a long rest.

  3. Shadowy Escape: Once per long rest, when you take damage, you can use your reaction to become incorporeal until the end of your next turn. While incorporeal, you can pass through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. At the start of your next turn, you reappear in the nearest unoccupied space of your choice.

  4. Whispers of the Void: When you whisper a command into the wand, you can cast Silence centered on yourself once per day without requiring material components. The area is filled with the eerie whispers of shadow, muffling all sound. This effect is not complete silence; the whispers can earn effects that echo around the space, providing a spooky advantage on intimidation checks within the area.

Attuning to the wand requires you to spend a day in darkness, during which your mind is gently coaxed by the whispers of the shadows. The experience feels both liberating and haunting, granting you a greater affinity with the darkness.
