Veilshade Wraith of the Sorrowful Depths

In darkened corners of desolate landscapes, a figure swirls through mist and sorrow, veiled in shadows that seem to absorb light itself. This incomprehensible being appears as a wretched silhouette, constantly shifting and merging with the swirling darkness around it. Its mournful wails echo through the night, telling tales of lost souls and forgotten dreams. As it dances between planes, its essence siphons the life and joy from those who dare to approach, leaving only despair in their wake. The emotions of its surroundings fuel its power, granting it the ability to manipulate the feelings of its foes, drawing them into a whirlpool of fear and hopelessness.

Traits

Ethereal Presence. As a bonus action, the wraith can shift between the Material Plane and the Ethereal Plane. It can pass through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.

Weeping Aura. Each creature within a 30-foot radius of the wraith must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or be affected by the following effects until the end of their next turn: frightened and have disadvantage on Wisdom saving throws and ability checks. A creature that succeeds the saving throw becomes immune to this effect for 24 hours.

Emotional Drain. Whenever the wraith deals damage to a creature, it regains hit points equal to half the damage dealt.

Actions

Multiattack. The wraith makes two Touch of Despair attacks.

Touch of Despair. Melee Spell Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (4d8 + 3) necrotic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or be incapacitated until the end of its next turn.

Soul Summon (Recharge 5-6). The wraith calls upon the despair of any creature killed within the last hour. A spectral copy of that creature rises as a ghost under the wraith's control. The ghost acts immediately after the wraith in the initiative order and remains for 1 minute or until reduced to 0 hit points.
