Innate Spellcasting. The creature's spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 16). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

- 3/day each: Fear, Phantasmal Force, Beacon of Hope
- 1/day each: Modify Memory, Confusion
Emotional Weave. Any creature that starts its turn within 30 feet of this creature must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or be subjected to either the Frightened or Charmed condition (creature's choice) until the end of their next turn.
Shadow Manipulation. The creature can merge with shadows and reappear in an unoccupied space within 30 feet of its original location as a bonus action. It can only do this in dim light or darkness.
Actions
Multiattack. The creature makes two attacks: one with its Shadow Grasp and one with its Dreadful Scream.
Shadow Grasp. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 3) necrotic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned until the end of its next turn.
Dreadful Scream (Recharge 5-6). The creature emits an agonizing wail. Each creature within 30 feet must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or take 27 (6d8) psychic damage and be Frightened until the end of its next turn. A creature that saves takes half damage and isn’t Frightened.
Rejuvenation. If the creature is destroyed, it can reform in its lair after 24 hours unless it was destroyed by radiant damage or by a Wish spell. The creature returns with full hit points and a new emotional weave ability, determined by its previous victims.
