Veil of Obscured Intentions

Wondrous Item (Cloak), rare (requires attunement)

This flowing cloak appears to shimmer and shift in color, evoking the essence of a moonlit night. Crafted from a mysterious fabric that seems to ripple as if alive, it envelops the wearer, hinting at its otherworldly properties. When attuned, the wearer gains the ability to weave shadows and subterfuge into their persona.

While wearing this cloak, you gain the following benefits:

  • Mask of Deception: You can cast Disguise Self at will without expending a spell slot. When you use this ability, your voice and mannerisms can also change, allowing you to impersonate others convincingly. You have advantage on Charisma (Deception) checks made to impersonate someone else.

  • Cloak of Shadows: As a bonus action, you can blend into the shadows, becoming heavily obscured until the start of your next turn. While obscured this way, you leave no trace of your presence and cannot be tracked. However, if a creature can see you, they can attempt a Wisdom saving throw (DC 15) to perceive you. On a failed save, they are unable to discern your exact location.

  • Veil of Confusion: Once per long rest, when you take damage from a creature, you can use your reaction to create an illusory duplicate of yourself. The duplicate appears within 10 feet of you and lasts until the end of your next turn. The duplicate mimics your actions but is intangible and does not take any damage. The creature that attacked you must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 15). On a failed save, it must choose to attack the duplicate on its next turn, rather than you.

The cloak has a faint mystical aura and whispers soft promises of secrecy to anyone who comes too close. If ripped or torn, the cloak won’t lose its powers but will take on a shimmering effect, resembling a starry sky, enhancing its allure.
