Veil of Illusory Echoes

Wondrous Item (cloak), rare (requires attunement)

This shimmering cloak appears to be woven from strands of ethereal fabric that shift in color and texture with the ambient light. When draped across the shoulders, it feels weightless, as if it were crafted from the very essence of the air around you.

While wearing this cloak, you gain advantage on all Charisma (Deception) and Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to create illusions or escape detection. Additionally, once per short rest, you can invoke the cloak’s power to cast Mirror Image without expending a spell slot. The illusory duplicates created by this effect can move with you and mimic your actions, making them harder to distinguish from you.

As a bonus action, you can activate the cloak to create an illusory echo of yourself in an unoccupied space within 30 feet. This echo lasts for up to 1 minute and provides you with a distinct advantage in combat. Enemies must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC equal to your spell save DC) at the start of their turn to distinguish between you and the illusory echo. On a failed save, they treat the echo as real, attempting to attack it instead of you. This ability can be used once per long rest.

Additionally, the cloak has a unique quirk: whenever you speak while wearing it, your voice echoes around you in a mesmerizing tone, making listeners momentarily hesitate and giving you advantage on one Persuasion check made within the same turn.

However, the cloak’s enchantment comes with a warning: too much use of its power can draw the ire of unseen forces. If you use the illusionary echo ability three times in one day, roll a d20. On a roll of 1, the cloak becomes a target of lingering echoes for 24 hours, creating random illusions around you that may or may not aid you in your endeavors, leaving you and your allies vulnerable to confusion and doubt.
