Veil of Endless Whispers
Wondrous Item (Cloak), rare (requires attunement)
This ethereal cloak shimmers with faint hues of blue and silver, appearing almost translucent in dim light. When worn, it envelops the wearer in a soft, almost imperceptible murmur—an endless chorus of whispered secrets and soft voices that seem to echo from a great distance.
While attuned to the cloak, the wearer gains several potent abilities:

Whispering Insight: Once per short rest, the wearer can listen to the whispers for guidance. By spending an action, they can ask a single question and roll a d20. If the result is higher than the wearer’s Wisdom modifier, they gain a hint related to the question about a current situation, enemy, or puzzle.

Evasive Veil: While wearing the cloak, the wearer gains advantage on Dexterity saving throws against spells and effects. Additionally, if they are targeted by an attack and successfully evade it, the cloak seems to absorb the missed strike, causing the attacker to hear the faint whispers as a distracting echo (the attacker must make a Wisdom saving throw against the wearer’s spell save DC or have disadvantage on their next attack).

Cloak of Silence: The wearer can activate the cloak to create an aura of silence in a 10-foot radius around them for up to 10 minutes. This effect can be used once per long rest, rendering the area silent, preventing all sounds, including verbal components for spells. The wearer maintains the ability to hear the whispers in the cloak despite the silence.
However, the cloak bears an unsettling burden. The more time spent listening to the whispers, the more the wearer can become entranced by them. After a total of 24 hours of wearing the cloak, the wearer must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC 15) or become charmed by the cloak until a remove curse spell is cast on them or they are no longer wearing it. While charmed, the wearer becomes increasingly obsessed with uncovering the secrets whispered to them, leading them to take impulsive actions that may jeopardize the party’s safety.
When the cloak is first attuned, it may also lead the wearer to discover a hidden truth about their past or a notable secret relevant to their journey, setting the stage for character development and narrative intrigue.
