Tome of Shifting Shadows

This ancient tome is bound in pitch-black leather, with swirling patterns that shift like shadows in the dark. At first glance, it appears to be a normal spellbook, but upon closer inspection, its pages are filled with secrets untold – knowledge of shadow magic long forgotten by most scholars.
While attuned to this tome, you gain the ability to cast the Shadow Step spell without expending a spell slot. Additionally, once per short rest, you can use an action to summon a shadowy mirror that reflects an alternate version of yourself. This reflection can take form for up to 1 minute and acts as a duplicate of yourself in combat; it has 1 hit point and uses your spell attack modifier for its own attack rolls. While the reflection is present, you gain advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks and can teleport to its location as a bonus action, even if it is not within your line of sight.
The tome contains three additional spells from the illusion or darkness school, which you can choose to add to your spell list as long as they do not exceed your spellcasting level. However, drawing too much power from the tome comes with a risk. Each time you cast a spell using its powers, you must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or suffer a momentary bout of confusion, causing you to act as if under the effects of the Confusion spell for 1 round.
This tome whispers with a dark energy, sometimes revealing glimpses of shadow beasts that swirl around the edges of your vision. It calls out for exploration, subtly influencing you with its desire to learn more about the shadows, perhaps leading you to deeper mysteries hidden in the realms of darkness.
