In the dim lit depths of ancient ruins, a sense of unease lingers in the air, accompanied by faint whispers that echo uneasily through the corridors. This creature is an ethereal aberration born from the remnants of forgotten souls, drawn from the shadows of lost memories. It manifests as a shifting, translucent figure, adorned with tattered garb that seems to flow and ripple like mist. As it glides through its territory, the atmosphere grows heavy, burdened by an overwhelming sorrow that stems from its lamentations. Those who dare venture too close can hear the distant cries of their own past mistakes and regrets, drawing them into a trance-like state, while the creature manipulates their own apprehensions against them.

Ethereal Sight. The creature can see 60 feet into the Ethereal Plane when it is on the Material Plane, and vice versa.
Echo Manipulation. As a bonus action, the creature can force one creature within 60 feet that it can see to succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC 15) or become frightened until the end of its next turn. A creature frightened in this way takes 3d6 psychic damage as they hear horrific echoes that resonate with their deepest fears.
Echoing Grasp. When a creature within 5 feet attempts to move away from it, the creature can use its reaction to grasp their shadow, dealing 8 (1d10 + 3) necrotic damage and preventing their movement.
Action Options:
- Multiattack. The creature makes two attacks with its Shadow Touch.
- Shadow Touch. Melee Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) necrotic damage. If the target is reduced to 0 hit points by this attack, the creature regains hit points equal to the damage dealt.
- Memory Lament (Recharge 5-6). The creature unleashes a wave of memories. Each creature within a 30-foot radius must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 15). On a failed save, a creature takes 36 (8d8) psychic damage and is stunned until the end of its next turn. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and is not stunned.
Rejuvenation. If the creature is destroyed, it can reform in 1d4 days in the same location if there are any sentient beings who have unresolved memories or regrets within 60 feet of its last location.
