Those who go too near feel an overwhelming sense of loss and dread, as if their most painful memories are being unearthed. The entity feeds on emotional turmoil, using it to bolster its own existence. Fighters may find their resolve shaken, while spellcasters struggle to maintain their magical focus in its presence. This phantom thrives on the energy of dread and sorrow, absorbing the fears of its foes to fuel its haunting abilities.

Essence Drain: When a creature within 10 feet of the entity fails a saving throw against a spell or ability, the entity can siphon the sadness or despair caused by that failure, gaining temporary hit points equal to the amount rolled.

Wail of the Lost (Recharge 5-6): The entity can emit a sorrowful wail. Each creature of its choice within 30 feet that can hear it must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 35 (10d6) psychic damage and becomes frightened until the end of its next turn. On a successful save, the creature takes half damage and is not frightened.

Actions
Multiattack: The entity makes two attacks with its Touch of Despair.

Touch of Despair: Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d8 + 4) psychic damage. Additionally, the target must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be cursed. While cursed, the target has disadvantage on Wisdom saving throws and takes 5 (1d10) psychic damage at the start of each of its turns. The curse lasts until removed by a remove curse spell or similar magic.
