It manifests from emotional echoes and memories, which it uses to amplify its power, ensnaring its foes in sorrowful illusions of their past.

Traits
Incorporeal Movement. The creature can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.

Wail of Regret. As a bonus action, the creature can unleash a haunting wail. Each creature within 30 feet that can hear it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be paralyzed until the end of its next turn. Creatures that succeed on this saving throw are immune to this effect for the next 24 hours.

Illusory Echo. When the creature takes damage, it can create an illusory duplicate of itself that appears in an unoccupied space within 30 feet. This illusion lasts until the start of its next turn and is intangible. Any attacks made against the illusion automatically miss, and if a creature interacts with it, it must make a DC 15 Intelligence saving throw or become frightened until the end of its next turn.

Actions
Multiattack. The creature makes two attacks: one with its Spectral Grasp and one with its Lamenting Touch.

Spectral Grasp. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) necrotic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or have its hit point maximum reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken. This reduction lasts until the creature finishes a long rest.

Lamenting Touch. Melee Spell Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 18 (4d8) psychic damage, and the target must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be incapacitated until the end of its next turn.

Reactions
Ethereal Step. When the creature is hit by an attack, it can use its reaction to become incorporeal until the end of its next turn, causing the attack to miss and giving it advantage on its next saving throw.
