Mist Shaper of the Shattering Abyss

A creature born from the swirling energies of the Shattering Abyss, this being drifts through the fabric of reality, composed of dense fog and shadow. Its form shifts and melds with the environment, sometimes appearing as nothing more than a wisp of mist. The presence of this entity distorts reflections and snares the unwary in illusions, creating mirages that befuddle the senses. Those who venture too close may find themselves lost in a realm where sight and sound deceive, and escape becomes a desperate gamble.

Shape Illusion. As a bonus action, the creature can choose a point it can see within 60 feet. All creatures within a 30-foot radius of that point must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or become blinded and confused for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the creature fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Spellcasting. The creature is a 10th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 16, +8 to hit with spell attacks). It has the following spells prepared:

  • Cantrips (at will): Minor Illusion, Mage Hand, Prestidigitation
  • 1st level (4 slots): Disguise Self, Silent Image, Shield
  • 2nd level (3 slots): Mirror Image, Misty Step, Phantasmal Force
  • 3rd level (3 slots): Fear, Major Image
  • 4th level (3 slots): Greater Invisibility, Phantasmal Killer

Actions

Multiattack. The creature makes two attacks.

Mist Lash. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (3d10 + 3) psychic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 15 Intelligence saving throw or have disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.

Consume Reality (Recharge 5-6). The creature targets one creature it can see within 60 feet. The target must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 45 (10d8) psychic damage, and its speed is halved until the end of its next turn. On a successful save, the target takes half as much damage and suffers no other effects.


Reactions

Fleeting Camouflage. When targeted by an attack, the creature can impose disadvantage on the attack roll. If the attack misses, it can immediately move up to half its flying speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
