Once attuned, you gain the ability to communicate telepathically with a shadowy figure that resides within the locket. This figure offers hints and guidance as you navigate your adventure, granting you advantage on one Intelligence check or ability check per long rest. However, receiving this knowledge comes at a price; the figure demands a morbid tale of loss or betrayal to assist you, and if such a tale is not provided, the locket remains silent.
Additionally, you can use the locket to summon a shroud of shadow. As a bonus action, you can activate this ability to envelop yourself in a veil of darkness for up to 10 minutes. While shrouded, you gain resistance to radiant damage and are invisible to creatures that rely on darkvision. However, the shadows of the locket bind you; you cannot move more than 30 feet away from it during this duration.
Once you use the shadow shroud, the locket cannot be called upon again until the next dawn. Be careful with your whispers; the shadows may listen to not just your hopes, but also your fears.
