Glimmering Prism of Time's Echo

Wondrous Item (Trinket), rare (requires attunement)

This beautifully crafted prism captures light in a kaleidoscope of colors, shifting and swirling as if it contains fragments of different realities. At first glance, it appears to be a luxurious ornament, but those who attune to it discover its profound power over time itself.

Once per short rest, the bearer can activate the prism as a bonus action. Upon activation, the wielder can manipulate the flow of time for a brief moment, granting one of the following effects:

  1. Echo of Action: The wielder can take an additional action that can only be used to cast a spell of 2nd level or lower or to make one weapon attack. This action must be used before the end of the wielder's next turn.

  2. Step into Tomorrow: The bearer can reroll a failed saving throw or skill check and must take the new result. This can only be used once before needing to complete a short or long rest to recharge.

  3. Glimpse of the Future: The owner gains advantage on their next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw made before the end of their next turn. This effect must be invoked before the roll is made.

In addition to these effects, the prism has a lingering pulse of time magic. When the bearer is reduced to 0 hit points, they can activate the prism as a reaction, allowing them to stabilize automatically. However, doing so unleashes a chaotic distortion of time in a 30-foot radius. Each creature within range must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be affected by the slow spell until the end of their next turn.

The prism's power, while incredible, comes with risks. Each time it is activated, there is a 10% chance that the bearer will experience a disorienting temporal backlash, causing them to be unable to take any action or movement on their next turn as they momentarily flicker out of the present.

Finding this rare artifact is often accompanied by tales of time-fated adventurers who gleaned its secrets from the heart of a time-worn tower. As such, it is sought by scholars and rogues alike, in the hopes of seizing its temporal mastery for their own ends.
