Ethereal Veil of Translucent Secrets
Wondrous Item (cloak), rare (requires attunement)
This shimmering cloak appears to be woven from strands of gossamer, flickering with iridescent hues that seem to change in the light. When worn, it feels weightless, as if you are donning a wisp of cloud. The inner lining of the cloak is marked with intricate patterns that resemble swirling fog, granting a sense of mystery and otherworldly presence to the wearer.
While wearing the cloak, you gain the ability to blend seamlessly into your surroundings. You have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks, and you can attempt to hide even when only lightly obscured. Additionally, once per long rest, you can cast the Invisibility spell on yourself as a bonus action without expending a spell slot, causing the cloak to shimmer more brightly the moment you turn invisible.
Furthermore, the cloak possesses a hidden feature tied to its ethereal nature. Once per day, when you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can choose to enter an ethereal state. This allows you to fade into the Ethereal Plane for up to 1 minute, during which time you regain a number of hit points equal to 1d8 + your proficiency bonus when you return to the Material Plane. Once you use this feature, it cannot be used again until the next dawn.
However, the ethereal nature of the cloak comes with a caveat. When using the cloak's powers, there is a 10% chance that the fabric may attract the attention of an otherworldly being. If this occurs, the creature may seek to reclaim the cloak or form a bond with the wearer, leading to a potentially dangerous encounter.
Adventurers drawn to secrets and the unknown will find this cloak a worthy companion, both enhancing their stealth capabilities and offering a unique connection to the veil that separates realms. Embrace its powers cautiously, for it holds both great potential and enigmatic challenges.
