Emberstone Phylactery of Elemental Resilience
Wondrous Item (Amulet), rare (requires attunement)
This small, radiant gemstone, resembling a flickering flame encased in smooth obsidian, whispers secrets of elemental energy. When held, it feels as if the air around it stirs with an unseen force. The phylactery grants the wearer enhanced resilience against elemental damage, as its magic resonates with the primal powers of fire, water, earth, and air.
While attuned to this phylactery, the wearer gains resistance to fire, cold, lightning, and acid damage. In addition, once per long rest, they can invoke its magic to create a protective barrier. As a reaction to taking damage from an elemental source, the wearer can absorb the energy and gain temporary hit points equal to half the damage taken (rounded down) for one minute. These temporary hit points can absorb further elemental damage but are lost once the duration ends or if they are depleted.
In addition, the wearer can choose to unleash the stored elemental energy as an explosion styled from the absorbed damage. As an action, they can release a wave of elemental force in a 15-foot radius around them. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier), taking 3d6 damage of the absorbed damage type on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. This ability can be used once per long rest.
The emberstone glows brighter when elemental magic is near, serving as an alert for incoming danger. However, the magic of this amulet resonates deeply with the elemental planes, which may occasionally attract the attention of elemental beings. The wearer may face elemental creatures seeking to reclaim the power that the phylactery stores.
