This exquisitely crafted compass is made from celestial brass and features intricate designs that shimmer like stars. The needle of the compass isn't fixed; instead, it moves freely, sometimes spinning wildly, while at other times it seems to have a mind of its own, pointing towards destinations unknown.
When attuned, the user can use the compass to navigate through both terrestrial and interdimensional terrains. Once per long rest, as an action, the user can focus on a destination within 100 miles that they have seen before or have knowledge of. The compass will guide the user with ethereal threads of light that only they can see, allowing them to arrive at their chosen location instantly.
Additionally, the compass has the ability to create a small, interconnected portal to a nearby pocket dimension once per day. This portal can be used to escape danger or to hide from foes for up to one hour. However, failure to properly concentrate can create a tear in reality, resulting in an unpredictable effect determined by the DM (e.g., wild magic surges, drawing creatures from other dimensions, etc.).
The compass also has a unique interaction with planar entities. When holding it, the user gains advantage on Charisma checks made against creatures from other dimensions, as the celestial vibrations seem to resonate well with them.
While the compass is incredibly powerful, its unpredictable nature encourages careful and strategic use, ensuring that players are rewarded for their decisions and creativity in navigating the multiverse.
