Echoing Crystal Prism
Wondrous Item (Crystal), rare (requires attunement)
This multifaceted crystal prism is about the size of a human fist, shimmering with iridescent colors that seem to dance across its surface. Luminous energy pulses from within, responding to the emotional states and intentions of its wielder.
While attuned to this prism, you gain the ability to manipulate sound waves to create powerful auditory effects. As an action, you can expend a spell slot to produce one of the following effects, which lasts for up to 1 minute:
-
Echoing Voice: When speaking or casting spells, your voice carries, allowing you to communicate clearly within a 300-foot radius. Allies can also use this effect to gain advantage on saving throws against being frightened while within this radius.
-
Resonant Disruption: You can create a disorienting sound wave that targets a creature within 60 feet. The target must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, they take 3d8 thunder damage and are deafened until the end of your next turn. On a successful save, they take half damage and are not deafened.
-
Harmonic Defense: As a reaction when you are hit by an attack, you can absorb the sound from the attack, creating a protective barrier. You gain temporary hit points equal to 2d10 + your proficiency bonus, which last until the end of your next turn.
In addition, while attuned to this crystal, you have resistance to thunder damage. Once you use one of these abilities, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest. The crystal resonates with the emotions of those around it; if you experience extreme emotional stress or anger while holding it, there is a chance the crystal may unleash a chaotic sound wave, forcing all creatures within 30 feet to make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or become frightened until the end of their next turn.
The crystal’s allure and unpredictable nature make it both a powerful and somewhat reckless ally in the hands of a skilled adventurer.
