Crimson Veil of the Shade Whisperer

Wondrous Item (Cloak), rare (requires attunement)

This flowing crimson cloak seems to subtly shimmer, shifting colors between deep red and shadowy black as the light changes. When worn, it feels cool against your skin and a soft whisper echoes faintly in your ears, forming an eerie sense of companionship.

While wearing this cloak, you gain advantage on Stealth checks. Furthermore, you can use a bonus action to draw upon its magic, becoming partially incorporeal for one minute. During this time, you can move through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. If you end your turn inside a creature, it takes 2d6 necrotic damage, and you are pushed to the nearest unoccupied space.

Once you use this ability, you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest. Additionally, while attuned to this cloak, you gain a +1 bonus to your AC, and when you are reduced to 0 hit points, the cloak absorbs the energy of the strike, allowing you to instead fall unconscious at 1 hit point, triggering this effect only once per long rest.

However, the magic of the cloak comes at a price. Each time you use its incorporeal ability, you must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or take on a fleeting sense of dread, inflicting disadvantage on your next attack roll or saving throw within the following hour.

The whispers grow louder when you are in the vicinity of creatures with the Undead or Shadow type, often nudging you towards dark choices but also offering cryptic hints about the secrets of the night.
