This striking cloak shimmers with a dark, iridescent fabric that seems to absorb light itself. As the wearer drapes it over their shoulders, the cloak whispers softly, as if carrying the secrets of those who have ventured beyond the mortal realm. Its hood casts an alluring shadow over the wearer's face, enhancing their air of mystery.
While wearing this cloak, the user gains advantage on Stealth checks made in dim light or darkness. Additionally, the cloak allows the wearer to cast silence once per long rest without expending a spell slot. The wearer can also invoke the whispering spirits within the cloak to temporarily cloak themselves from detection. As a reaction when a creature attacks the wearer, they can become invisible until the start of their next turn. This ability can be used once per short or long rest.
However, the cloak comes with a price. The whispers can become overwhelming when the wearer is exposed to strong emotions, and they must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw whenever they are subjected to extreme fear, anger, or despair. On a failed save, the wearer becomes incapacitated until the end of their next turn as they become momentarily lost in the voices of the past.
Those who wear this cloak may find it more challenging to form connections with others, as its pull from the realm of spirits creates a spectral barrier around the wearer. Despite its drawbacks, the Cloak of Whispers Beyond the Veil grants its bearer unique insights into the feelings and memories of those they encounter, allowing them to navigate social situations with an eerie, otherworldly advantage.
