Cloak of the Shadowed Seas

Wondrous Item (Cloak), rare (requires attunement)

This billowing cloak appears to be woven from the essence of swirling oceans, with shades of deep blue and green interspersed with shimmering wisps reminiscent of moonlit waves. When worn, it grants the user the ability to blend into shadows, as well as provide protection against the perils of the sea.

While wearing the cloak, you gain advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made in dim light or darkness. Moreover, you can use a bonus action to become cloaked in shadow, allowing you to become invisible until the start of your next turn. This ability can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and is regained after a long rest.

Once per long rest, if you are within 30 feet of a body of water, you can summon a spectral wave that grants a temporary area of control over water. This manifests as a 20-foot radius circle centered on yourself or a location within range. Within this area, you can create difficult terrain or establish a protective barrier that provides half cover to you and your allies for the duration of your next turn. This wave dissipates at the start of your next turn.

Should you find yourself submerged, the cloak allows you to breathe underwater for up to 1 hour, and you gain a swimming speed equal to your walking speed. However, you cannot use the invisibility feature while submerged.

Legends say the cloak is imbued with the essence of ancient sea spirits, and some believe it holds the power to summon them should you prove yourself worthy in the depths of the ocean or near a significant source of water.
