Cloak of the Celestial Navigator
Wondrous Item (Cloak), rare (requires attunement)
This shimmering cloak is woven from the gossamer threads of fallen stars, with designs that shift subtly when observed. The inner lining depicts a celestial map, complete with constellations that glow faintly when magic is cast nearby. While wearing this cloak, you gain the following benefits:
-
Stargazer's Guidance: As a bonus action, you can call upon the stars to grant you navigational clarity. You gain advantage on Intelligence (Investigation) checks made to find your way in unfamiliar locations, whether in the wilderness or urban environments.
-
Celestial Veil: When you make a saving throw against a spell or magical effect, you can choose to have the cloak absorb the energy instead. When you do so, roll a d4, and reduce the damage you take from the spell by an amount equal to the roll. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses after a long rest.
-
Astral Wanderer: Once per long rest, you can use your action to invoke the cloak's celestial power, allowing you and up to five willing creatures you can see within 30 feet to teleport to a location you've seen or visited before within 1 mile. The destination must be in an area where the stars are visible, such as outside at night or in an open sky.
-
Warped Perception: The cloak grants you a +1 bonus to Wisdom (Perception) checks and allows you to see through magical darkness as if it were dim light.
The cloak has a soft, almost ethereal feel and emanates a faint warmth when you are in the presence of celestial alignments. However, be warned: those who seek to wield the power of the heavens must also be prepared for the scrutiny of cosmic entities. If you misuse its power, there is a chance that a celestial being may take notice, possibly leading to unforeseen consequences.
