Amulet of Transcendent Illusions

Wondrous Item (Amulet), rare (requires attunement)

Crafted from swirling mists of iridescent colors, this amulet grants its wearer a unique connection to the fabric of illusion. When you put it on, the amulet feels light, almost weightless, and pulses gently against your chest, harmonizing with your heartbeat.

While wearing this amulet, you gain the ability to cast the spell Disguise Self at will. Additionally, once per long rest, you can use your action to cast Greater Invisibility on yourself without expending a spell slot or requiring material components. The spell lasts for up to 1 minute or until you attack, cast a spell, or force someone to make a saving throw.

The amulet holds a deeper magic as well. As a reaction, when you are the target of an attack, you can spend 1 charge (the amulet has 3 charges) to create an illusory duplicate of yourself at a point within 5 feet of your location. The duplicate mimics your appearance exactly, but the attacker must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, they must redirect their attack to the illusion, which dissipates after being struck.

If you expend all 3 charges, roll a d20. On a roll of 1, the amulet becomes temporarily unstable, and you are affected by the Confusion spell until the end of your next turn, as the illusions turn against you.

The amulet glimmers softly within dark places, attracting the attention of curious onlookers. While attuned, you have advantage on Charisma (Deception) checks made while in the presence of other creatures.
