Abyssal Wisp of the Sorrowful Depths
In the darkest corners of forgotten caverns, an ethereal glow pulses, emanating from a creature born of sorrow and despair. This apparition resembles a drifting orb of blue-green luminescence, shrouded in shadowy tendrils that whisper ancient regrets and echo long-lost hopes. Those who gaze upon this haunting entity often feel their hearts grow heavy with melancholy as the specter leeches the joy from the air. This being feeds off emotional pain, using it to manifest haunting illusions that delve into the fears of its opponents. Its touch can sap the will to fight and warm the coldest of hearts with insidious sorrow.

Innate Spellcasting. The creature's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 17). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
- At will: Silent Image, Minor Illusion
- 3/day each: Suggestion, Fear
- 1/day each: Phantasmal Killer, Dimension Door
Emotion Drain. A creature that starts its turn within 30 feet of this creature must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or have its speed reduced to 0 until the start of its next turn and take 10 (3d6) psychic damage. The creature is also marked with a sorrowful aura for 1 minute. While marked in this way, the affected creature has disadvantage on all saving throws against being frightened.
Haunting Illusions. The spirit can create illusions based on the specified fears of a chosen target within 60 feet. The target must succeed on a DC 17 Intelligence saving throw or be confronted by a phantasmal manifestation that lasts for up to 1 minute. The victim takes 7 (2d6) psychic damage at the start of each of its turns as the illusion preys on its mind. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Actions
Multiattack. The creature makes one Spectral Touch attack and may cast an innate spell.
Spectral Touch. Melee Spell Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 20 (4d8) necrotic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or be incapacitated until the end of its next turn.
Rejuvenating Sorrow (Recharge 5-6). The creature can absorb negative emotions from the environment. Each creature within 30 feet must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 21 (6d6) necrotic damage, and the wisp regains hit points equal to half the total damage dealt. If the saving throw is successful, the wisp takes half damage and does not regain hit points.
