Shiverwing of the Abyssal Mirage
A creature of haunting beauty manifests in the smoke-filled air, shimmering like an illusion yet exuding an aura of deep dread. With its translucent wings that seem to melt into shadows, it glides silently through the ethereal plane. Its body is that of a humanoid shape, but its features are obscured, shifting and changing like a mirage, causing those who gaze upon it to question their own senses. Whispers echo in the ears of those nearby, beckoning and disorienting them until they can no longer tell friend from foe. When angered, it releases a cloud of vibrant colors that confound its enemies and creates a series of clones that dance and flit around the battlefield, sowing chaos.

Ethereal Mirage: As a bonus action, the creature can create three illusory duplicates of itself, which last until destroyed or until the creature dismisses them. Each duplicate occupies its own space and makes it difficult to discern the real creature. An enemy must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw to discern the real creature; on a failure, they attack a duplicate.
Invisibility Veil: As a reaction when it is attacked, the creature can vanish from sight, becoming invisible until the start of its next turn. The disappearance leaves behind a lingering shimmer, making it difficult for attackers to pinpoint its location for the next attack.
Actions
Multiattack: The creature makes three attacks: two with its Shadow Blade and one use of Mirage Whisper.
Shadow Blade: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d10 + 4) psychic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the end of its next turn.
Mirage Whisper (Recharge 5-6): The creature issues a haunting whisper that targets all creatures within 30 feet. Each target must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the target takes 27 (6d8) psychic damage and is incapacitated until the start of its next turn. On a success, the target takes half as much damage and is not incapacitated.
Legendary Actions
The creature can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature's turn. The creature regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
- Move: The creature moves up to its speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
