Celestial Prism of Temporal Insight
Wondrous Item (Artifact), rare (requires attunement)
This multifaceted crystal, about the size of a fist, shimmers with an otherworldly light that changes color as it catches the light. When held, it feels warm to the touch, pulsing gently in a rhythm that echoes the heartbeat of the wielder. This item grants the user profound insight into the nature of time and space, allowing them to manipulate the flow of events during critical moments.
While attuned to the crystal, the user gains the following benefits:
-
Temporal Awareness: The user can add a d4 to their initiative rolls. Additionally, they can make one extra attack when they take the Attack action on their turn, but they must finish a short or long rest before using this ability again.
-
Glimpse of the Future: Once per long rest, the user can use their reaction to gain a glimpse of the immediate future. When they do so, they can reroll an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check, taking the new result even if it is lower.
-
Time Dilation: As an action, the user can create a bubble of slowed time in a 20-foot radius centered on themselves that lasts for 1 minute. Creatures within this area must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC equal to the user's spell DC) or have their speed halved, and they cannot take reactions until the start of their next turn. However, the user feels the strain of bending time; after using this ability, they gain one level of exhaustion. This can be used once per long rest.
-
Temporal Echo: As an additional action, the user can summon an echo of themselves that occupies their physical space. This echo has hit points equal to half the user's and lasts until it's reduced to 0 hit points or the user dismisses it as a bonus action. The echo can take the same actions as the user but has no spells or magical abilities of its own. The user can use the echo's senses as though they were in its location.
These abilities reflect the delicate balance of time and the inherent risk in tampering with events. The wielder must use the item wisely, as the forces of time may not look kindly on those who disrupt its natural flow.
